Memphis, TN July 2, 2013
On Friday, June 28th 2013, Good Hands Community Care, a leading in-home care provider serving Memphis, held its first annual Senior Cool Out Day at the Hollywood Community Center. The goal of this event wass to offer heat relief to local seniors who cannot adequately cool their homes by providing them with a free box fan. The day started with seniors lined up to receive a fan, and over the course of the giveaway, well over a hundred fans were distributed.
Each year hundreds of people die from preventable heat-related illness. “Our mission at Good Hands Community Care is to allow seniors to live safely and comfortably in their own home. For those without proper air conditioning the summer months can be unbearable so these fans can make a real difference in someone’s quality of life,” said Clora Jett, Executive Director at Good Hands Community Care. “We are dedicated to serving the community and plan to host this event annually as we strive to support local area seniors and the community where we live”.
Given the resounding success of the first annual Senior Cool Out Day, additional community events will be planned for the future. For more information about Good Hands Community Care and its efforts to support the Memphis area, please visit http://www.goodhandcares.com.
